Gibby’s Bottle Shop in West Ashley (975 Savannah Hwy.) is hosting another allocation day for some of the hard-to-find, sought-after bourbons.
According to shop owner Caleb Gibson, the bourbon community is huge.
“Bourbon has become somewhat cult-ish for certain brands,” Gibson said. “When people see it on the shelf, they buy it all up, and there’s a huge market for resale.”
Because of this surge in aftermarket bourbon sales, Gibby’s does its best to save some of the popular bourbons, like Elijah Craig or Yellowstone, for its customers, and when the store has enough stock, it hosts an allocation day.
And on Saturday, Gibby’s will host another allocation day, just a couple of weeks after their Orangeburg location’s big day.
To ensure each customer gets a chance to snag their favorite bourbon at standard retail price, Gibby’s is limiting the number of sales per person:
One bottle per person or group is allowed with the purchase at least $25 in other items.
To detract the resellers, Gibby’s will ban anyone caught reselling from future events.
Allocation day kicks off at 9 a.m. at Gibby’s Bottle Shop in the Harris Teeter shopping plaza.
