White House, USPS finalizing plans to ship test kits to U.S. homes

The Biden administration is finalizing detail with the U.S. Postal Service to deliver 500 million COVID-19 testing kits to households across the country, kickstarting a key element to President Joe Biden’s response to the omicron variant.

The White House will launch a website allowing Americans to request the rapid tests, according to a report by The Washington Post. Officials aim to begin shipping the kits by mid-January.

Organizers are hopeful the new plan will help alleviate some of the stress on local testing sites and pharmacies, which have seen floods of people looking for testing after the holidays.
