South Carolina is preparing today for a smash of freezing rain, ice and perhaps some snow in parts of the state. The forecast has many schools closed or offering remote learning. Municipal offices may be shut. Drivers are being urged to stay off roads. Crews have begun pretreating the roads and bridges, including the Ravenel Bridge, to prevent a dangerous situation for drivers on the road, and SCDOT crews are laying salt or sand down to help with roadway conditions.
