NOW Charleston is a new three-day-a-week podcast that former Charleston City Paper editor Sam Spence is launching today.

Spence, who recently stepped down as editor after working at the newspaper since 2012, said each episode of the 15-minute podcast will be a go-to listen for the latest Charleston-area news.

“I started NOW Charleston because it’s something I’ve always wanted as an avid podcast listener,” he said. “I’m excited to experiment with NOW Charleston and continue tweaking to make the show better based on listener feedback.”

Each episode of the podcast will be released around 7 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Shows will focus on stories driving headlines locally and statewide, from politics to food and culture.

  • Listen now to Wednesday’s pilot episode.
  • NOW Charleston is available on its website as well as on major podcast players, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The podcast’s website also will have links, photos and other information for stories discussed in each episode.

Spence, who lives in North Charleston, is a Charlotte native who graduated from the College of Charleston.
