Despite being delayed last year, Charleston Wine + Food is back with plenty of happenings. For the first time in its 16 years, W+F is offering free events for the whole community to enjoy and connect.
The first free event is Flick at Nite, an outdoor movie at Hampton Park on March 3 at 5:30 p.m. The movie will be “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” an all-ages film about a Michelin-starred restaurant objecting to the opening of an Indian-owned restaurant 100 feet away. Complimentary popcorn and water will be available, as well as other food and drink purchase options from on-site food trucks. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. Warming weather can bring out no-see-ums at dusk, so bug spray might not be a bad idea too.
Culinary Village’s larger waterfront location is home to two sections for all guests to enjoy: The Lawn and The Pavilion. The Lawn is the traditional ticketed event, while The Pavilion is a non-ticketed area and open to the public. A variety of food trucks will be on site, offering samples of what Charleston’s on-the-road cuisine has to offer. The Pavilion will be located just outside Culinary Village and open all weekend from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We’re so grateful to the community for supporting the festival for all these years,” said Gillian Zettler, W+F executive director. “By programming opportunities for everybody to gather, we’re hoping to create an even bigger platform for the community to enjoy the spirit of the festival.”
