Mount Pleasant’s long standing iconic hot dog joint has changed hands after 22 years to local business owner Jarrett Hodson. Owned and operated by Jack Hurley and his family since 2000, Jack’s held a reputation for its wildly creative dogs and sci-fi atmosphere.

“After 21 years it will be great to have new energy at Jack’s Cosmic Dogs,” said Hurley. “Jarrett and his team will take it to a whole new level. It is time to embark on the next adventure.”

Though hands have changed, Jack’s will maintain its cosmic vibes. Jack said he plans to remain a regular face around the shop and key employees and managers like David Jackson will be staying in their roles.

“Jack Hurley is the real deal,” said Hodson. “He is a superhero and a clever restaurateur, hot dog entrepreneur, and I can’t fathom where this adventure will take us.”

Jack’s Cosmic Dog’s has won City Paper’s Best Hot Dog for 22 years and was named Best Hot Dog in South Carolina by Southern Living 2021. Gayot magazine has also ranked Jack’s Cosmic Dogs #6 on its rundown of Best Hot Dogs in America.
