Fire officials responded to a fire at 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning in a parking garage at the Charleston International Airport in North Charleston. The fire is now out, according to the North Charleston Fire Department.
Deputy Chief Stephanie Julazedah confirmed two vehicles were involved in the fire. No injuries have been reported. The fire is not anticipated to affect flight schedules.
A driver entering the parking garage reported a โburning smellโ coming from his vehicle shortly after 11 a.m., according to an airport spokesperson. The driver exited the vehicle and contacted emergency responders.ย
The parking garage is expected to remain closed for at least the next several hours, with guests being redirected to the hourly parking garage and economy B parking lot, officials said.
