Denmark Vesey Bicentenary
Commemorate the bicentenary of community leader Denmark Vesey’s uprising to free enslaved individuals with three days of events at The Gaillard Center downtown in partnership with Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episocpal Church and the International African American Museum. The event features cultural performances and conversations with multi-platinum singer Anthony Hamilton, comedians DL Hughley and W. Kamau Bell and more.

Hamilton
Enjoy the beloved sung-and-rapped-through musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda that tells the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton. The musical features a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway-style performances. This rendition of Hamilton, which runs through July 24, is developed by Virginia-based director Thomas Kail will, Ohio-based choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler and Cuban-American composer Alex Lacamoire. American actor Edred Utomi will play Hamilton.

Holy City Farmers Market
The Holy City Farmers Market takes place every Sunday behind Holy City Brewing along Noisette Creek. The rotating list of more than 30 vendors gives shoppers a new experience each visit. Public Works Art Center exhibits
Three newly opened exhibits are available for viewing at the Public Works Art Center in Summerville: a collection of photographs on silk by Kristen Hoving, a collection of photos by winners of the National Audubon Society’s Bird Photography Contest and a photography exhibition called Between the Richness by DeeJay Wiggins. All exhibits run through July 30.

Paint and Sip
Charleston art pop-up company Craft and Canvas will host a painting class in a roomy event space at The Restoration hotel.
