Gene’s Haufbrau surpasses a major milestone on Saturday — its 70th anniversary.
To celebrate seven decades of serving cold beer and top-quality bar food, Gene’s will host a 21-and-older anniversary party Saturday with bar specials all day and live music by party band High Five in the evening.
Touted as Charleston’s oldest bar, Gene’s has consecutively operated out of its Avondale location under the same name since 1951. Even after 70 years, Gene’s remains a popular watering hole for locals.
City Paper readers voted it Best West Ashley Bar and Best West Ashley Happy Hour in the 2022 Best of Charleston awards. That was the 24th year in a row that Gene’s secured the crowning title of Best West Ashley Bar.
Owners encourage you to drop by the neighborhood tavern said to have the “largest selection of beer in Charleston.” You can enjoy a pint and offer cheers to 70 years of success.
Happy anniversary, Gene’s!
