With bone-chilling temperatures expected to continue through the weekend, officials with Charleston Water System are urging residents to know where their water shutoff valve is located so they can turn off the water in case of a burst pipe.
Across the region, freezing temperatures have caused pipes to burst, wreaking havoc in homes during the holiday season. Leaking pipes and broken irrigation systems are suspected of spilling about 50 millions of water in the area a day, WCSC TV reported.
Charleston Water will visit for free to help locate and shut off your water at the meter. If you see a leak or burst pipe, you are urged to contact Charleston Water System at 843-727-6800.
CP OPINION, Brack: Remember freedom fighters in Ukraine
“Too often, children and adults are cold. Temperatures through the end of the year will be much like they are here — highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s. Across all of Ukraine, people are subject to blackouts, food shortages and periodic shelling from rockets or drones. Yet they fight on, demoralizing Vladimir Putin’s Russian troops.”
