U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., has made it official that he’s thinking about running for president. He launched an exploratory committee today, multiple news outlets are reporting.
“Once again, our divisions run deep and the threat to our future is real,” Scott said in a story in The State newspaper. “Joe Biden and the radical left have chosen a culture of grievance over greatness. They’re promoting victimhood instead of personal responsibility and they’re indoctrinating our children to believe we live in an evil country.”
Scott potentially would become the second South Carolinian in the race to be the Republican nominee for president. Former Gov. Nikki Haley — who appointed Scott to the Senate in 2013 — announced her bid in February.
Scott is expected to visit early voting states Iowa and New Hampshire this week.
