Plenty of businesses in the Charleston area are celebrating Pride Month with delicious drinks throughout June.

“Everyone deserves representation,” said Traxler Littlejohn, owner of Nippitaty Distillery. “They deserve a chance to live the life that they want without persecution, and it’s just the right thing to do. If you want to live a certain life and be happy, why would I want to stop you?”

Nippitaty Distillery in Park Circle designed the Nippy Naval, which is available for the entire month. The drink is made with Nippitaty gin, camomile simple syrup, lemon juice and peach nectar.

Other restaurants around Park Circle joined in on the fun, too.

For the third year in a row, Commonhouse Aleworks brewed a specialty beer for Pride Month called the Acceptance IPA. It’s selling the beer until it runs out, so grab it before it’s gone.

“Obviously, hostilities toward the LGBTQ+ community seem to have heightened across many states this year where there is anti-LGBT+, anti-trans, anti-drag legislation that’s been introduced … [and] some legislatures have passed this,” said Commonhouse owner Pearce Fleming. “Park Circle has always been very supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. Our business has been. This is not a new stance for us, and we will stand and be who we are this year and hope everyone will come and celebrate and have a good, safe time.”

LoLA, a Louisiana-inspired restaurant in Park Circle, prepared the Goodbye Yellowbrick and the Lo-Ki as drink specials for Pride Month. The Goodbye Yellowbrick is served with Deep Eddy Grapefruit Vodka, simple syrup, Triple Sec, homemade habanero tincture, grapefruit juice and soda. The Lo-Ki is made with blanco tequila, kiwi puree, lime juice, Triple Sec and St. Germain.

For June only, the drinks are available for $10.

“We want to create an inclusive environment for everyone, not just during June but year round,” said Matt Corder, beverage director at LoLA. “It’s just something that’s important to us.”

Follow the festivities outside of Park Circle as well.

Uptown Social on King Street is showing its pride with the Loud and Proud cocktail. The glittery drink comes with Smirnoff Vanilla, pineapple juice and grenadine, and is topped with a butterfly straw. It’s available for $13 throughout the month of June.

Little Palm Bar on Meeting Street has three special cocktails available: the Frozen PrideStar Martini, the Dream House and the Divine Punch.

The Frozen PrideStar Martini and the Divine Punch include Absolut Vodka, another supporter of the LGBTQ+ community.

The Frozen PrideStar Martini comes with Absolut Vodka, passion fruit, vanilla and G.H. Mumm Champagne. The Divine Punch is served in a gold flamingo cup and it’s mixed with Absolut Elyx, pomegranate, salted plum, lemon and G.H. Mumm Champagne.

The Dream House at Little Palm Bar is crafted with Olmeca Altos Blanco Tequila, Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, watermelon, lime and Jamaican bitters.

Indaco on King Street is also offering a pride cocktail — the Pride & Passion with hibiscus-infused vodka, Chinola Passion Fruit Liqueur, coconut cream, lime and habanero coated with a tajin rim.

For every drink sold, $1 will be donated to We Are Family, which provides affirming spaces for young members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Jack of Cups Saloon on Folly Beach will also donate $1 to We Are Family for every Sake Slushee sold. The restaurant offers two different frozen cocktails for this special — the Aperol Freeze and Cucumber Melon.

Most of these fruity drinks are only available in June.
