The White House announced President Joe Biden will visit South Carolina on a Thursday visit to the Flex LTD manufacturing plant in West Columbia. But no other details were available this morning.

The president is expected to discuss his “Bidenomics” track record on the economy and the administration’s investment in manufacturing. The economic investment philosophy is the opposite of Republican approaches that favor broad “trickle-down” tax cuts to spur growth.

“I came into office determined to change the economic direction of this country, to move from trickle-down economics to what everyone in The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times began to call ‘Bidenomics,’” Biden said in an Associated Press report

Biden’s visit comes less than a week after First Lady Jill Biden’s visit during the Marine Corps graduation ceremony at Parris Island on June 30. It also marks the president’s first visit to the Palmetto State since his re-election campaign announcement.

South Carolina is again expected to play a major role in the 2024 presidential race. The Democratic Party approved the reordering of its 2024 presidential primary, putting South Carolina at the top. GOP hopefuls, including former S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and former President Donald Trump have made campaign stops in South Carolina in recent weeks.
