Saturday marked the first Powerball drawing since somebody won the $1.7B jackpot last week, and already several winning tickets have been sold in South Carolina, including one worth $1 million, officials said.
The ticket matched all five white ball numbers (14, 16, 42, 48 and 64), lottery officials said. Had the game also matched the red Powerball number (14), it would have been worth $20 million. With no grand prize winner Saturday, the Powerball jackpot has increased to $34 million for Monday night’s drawing.
The winner has 180 days to claim the prize, according to lottery officials, and is allowed to retain some privacy thanks to state law. South Carolina is one of 11 states that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.
