Each April, people across the world join together to advocate for our planet. This Earth Day (April 22), the American Red Cross of South Carolina is joining the celebration and reaffirming our commitment to sustainability.

We understand the way we deliver our lifesaving mission matters significantly, and we’re committed to doing our part by cutting emissions, reducing waste and lowering water use across the country.

Here in South Carolina, at our chapter offices and blood donor centers across the state, the Red Cross is installing water bottle refill stations, partnering with Dominion Energy to install electric vehicle charging stations, and updating our fleet to more efficient service delivery vehicles.

Year-round, the Red Cross sees firsthand how the climate crisis is disrupting lives and entire communities as the frequency and intensity of extreme weather rapidly increase. As a leading response agency, the Red Cross is adapting our disaster response and recovery services and growing our capacity to equitably help the hardest-hit families and communities.

We’re also evolving all aspects of our work through a new eco-friendly lens to help combat the impact that the climate crisis is having on the people we serve.

We can all make a difference this Earth Day. Learn more at redcross.org/climate.

Keep up with our money

Re: The weird has turned pro in South Carolina

We cannot adhere to the stated requirements for the head of S.C. education, which has our most valuable assets. Why should we be able to keep track of our money? Likewise, elected officials need not be leaders, and in S.C. they need only be showmen.
