MORNING NEWSBREAK | Lowcountry native Johnny Wactor, who was known for his role in General Hospital, died early Saturday after being shot in an apparent attempted robbery in downtown Los Angeles, according to multiple outlets.
Police said Wactor saw three men stealing the catalytic converter from his vehicle late at night. When he confronted them, they reportedly turned around and shot him. Police found Wactor suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
The 37-year-old actor and Summerville, S.C., native appeared as Brando Corbin in 164 episodes of the popular soap opera General Hospital between 2020 and 2022. He also appeared in other shows, such as Westworld, Criminal Minds and Lifetime’s Army Wives, which was filmed in Charleston.
Wactor graduated from College of Charleston in 2009 before moving to Los Angeles. As of late Monday, there were no arrests announced in the case.
