If you’ve yet to try out Charleston’s Bevi Bene Brewing Company, the summer heat makes it the ideal time to head to the spot that specializes in lagers and hard kombuchas. The spot even has a rustic German lager, aptly named Sommer Bier, perfect for these hot as heck days.
Hop on the Charleston Brewery District trolley every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. to visit 10 local breweries including: Tradesman, Edmund’s Oast, Cooper River, Palmetto, Revelry, Fatty’s, Lo-Fi, Bevi Bene, Brewlab and Munkle.
Head to Edisto River Brewing Company on Johns Island every Friday at 6:30 p.m. for a darts tournament with a chance at cash prizes.
Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. recently released a celebratory beer, I’ve Got 5 On It: Cherry Limeade. Part of a collaboration of creation among five breweries, the beer celebrates the fifth anniversary of The Whale’s Greenville location. This beer is, according to EOBC, “a sweet and sour callback to one of our favorite summertime beverages, an ice cold Cherry Limeade.”
Every Monday Night Fatty’s Beer Works in Charleston hosts a Super Jam open mic night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Frothy Beard in West Ashley partners with the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI) for a team relay challenge on July 7. Competitors will try to feel, hear, smell and taste their way through eight different obstacles like flip cup, beer pong and giant Jenga. All ticket proceeds ($40/team of four) go to supporting ABVI. Celebrate Christmas in July in North Charleston with Holy City Brewing Co.’s Key West Christmas market from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 13. Shop local vendors and get pictures taken on a jet ski with Santa.
The Brewery Comedy Tour heads to Indigo Reef Brewing Co. in the Cainhoy area on July 20. Now in its 11th year, the nationwide comedy tour has stopped at over 4,300 venues across the country. Buy tickets ($17) online at eventbrite.com.
Munkle and Coast Brewing recently collaborated on a perfect summer beer, Pier Pressure, a West Coast pilsner. Enjoy it in both taprooms in Charleston and North Charleston, respectively.
Head to New Realm Brewing Co. on Daniel Island on July 28 for Ale & Octane, South Carolina’s largest free car show.
‘Tis the season for live outdoor music. Follow Palmetto Brewing Co. downtown on Facebook and Instagram to stay up-to-date with live music offerings.
Revelry Brewing’s Folly Beach outpost recently released hard seltzers — and an accompanying cocktail list. If you want to take a break from craft beer, sip on drinks like the “Bro-jito,” a mojito-inspired seltzer and the “Kook Punch,” a strawberry and kiwi punch seltzer.
Snafu Brewing Company of North Charleston recently released a hazy IPA dry-hopped with Galaxy and Citra hops, called Brain Rot. Pair it with whatever good eats are on tap from a local food truck, like Bangin Vegan Eats on July 6.
