MORNING HEADLINES  |  President Joe Biden will spend part of his last full day in office in Charleston on Sunday, according to the White House.

The visit, which sources say will include a speech at Royal Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston and a stop at the International African American Museum, is being viewed as a tribute to South Carolina, where Biden’s struggling 2020 president campaign won a major primary victory that propelled him into the Democratic nomination and, ultimately, the presidency.

“I wouldn’t be here without the Democrats of South Carolina,” Biden told state Democrats last January. “You’re the reason Donald Trump is a loser.”

Biden’s most recent visit to the state was Oct. 2 when he landed at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport for an update on the damage caused by Hurricane Helene days prior.

More details of the visit are forthcoming, but Sunday traffic at Charleston International Airport and relevant area roads are expected to be impacted.
