MORNING HEADLINES | Newly released U.S. Census Bureau data shows elevated mortgage and insurance fees pushed homeowners in several states to spend more than 30% of their incomes in 2024 on housing. In South Carolina, monthly housing costs rose 7.1% from 2023 to 2024, according to census figures.
Nationwide, the median price of U.S. home sales in September 2025 was $435,495, which includes single-family, townhomes and condos, according to data by Redfin.
In Charleston County, the median home price of $704,000 was well above the state median in September. It dropped 3.6% from a year prior, per the S.C. Realtors Association.

Charleston’s historic St. Patrick Catholic Church has received a $500,000 grant from the National Fund for Sacred Places to restore its iconic steeple.
