Reports taken from Feb. 24 to Feb. 28

Sticky emergency response
A North Charleston woman on Feb. 28 called city police to help her after she accidentally glued her eyes shut while doing her lashes. The woman told officers she may have used “too much” glue. Dorchester County EMS arrived after the police and removed the glue off without any issues. Lessons learned, we hope.

So many questions
Mount Pleasant police on Feb. 24 stopped to question a man they found lying on the sidewalk along Ben Sawyer Boulevard. According to reports, the man said he walked from North Carolina. He spoke with “exaggerated mannerisms and responses.” Officers told him to call if he needed help, and he reportedly smiled, bowed and said, “I don’t have a phone!” So … we think that man must have been a time traveler.

Elementary, Watson
A North Charleston man on Feb. 27 attempted to steal a pair of earrings from a Northwoods Boulevard store, but apparently hid them in a nearby barber shop when he caught the attention of nearby officers. Police questioned him about the earrings, and when an officer deduced he may have dumped them in the barber shop, the man started smiling and confessed. Police cited him for shoplifting, but released him due to his cooperation.

Bold move
A Charleston police officer on Feb. 23 entered a station’s communal bike storage room, finding the bikes scattered about the floor and several missing — including his own. The officer noted the room is normally locked, so he didn’t actually lock his bike to a rack. We’ve got to acknowledge this thief’s bravery. We never would have thought to steal an officer’s bike at all, let alone several.

TikTok famous
Mount Pleasant police on Feb. 26 turned on their lights and siren behind a speeding motorcycle that they clocked at more than 100 mph on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. The rider reportedly turned around, recording the police cruiser with his cell phone, before accelerating even more and weaving through traffic. Police gave up the pursuit, basically immediately, and are probably now hoping to see their faces on social media so they can arrest the guy.
