Room service included?

A Mount Pleasant man on March 29 reportedly locked himself in a Magrath Darby Boulevard hotel bathroom in an attempt to stay overnight. Staff first noticed when the bathroom remained locked for several hours. Police arrived and made contact with the occupant, a shoeless man with a backpack and “multiple vapes” around him. Hotel employees opted not to ban him, though, and said he was welcome to return as a paying guess another night.

Is that a bottle, or …

A West Ashley man on April 2 reportedly grabbed three bottles of alcohol off the shelf of a West Ashley Circle store and stuffed them down his pants in an attempt to hide them from the checkout employees. Sorry, buddy, you’re not fooling anyone — an office at the store stopped him, recovered the bottles and arrested him for shoplifting. The bottles were, unfortunately, returned to the shelf.

Be cool, bro!

Charleston police on April 4 responded to President Street residence after receiving multiple complaints about loud music at about 3 a.m. When officers arrived, the primary renter of the home answered the door, apologized for the noise and was respectful, according to a report. Another man, however, then stepped outside, confronted officers for trying to “ruin our spring break,” and got both himself and the renter cited for the loud noise. Smooth.

Not that slick

A North Charleston woman on April 5 reportedly confessed to stealing about $270 worth of items from a Rivers Avenue store by hiding them in a black plastic tote. She got herself and another male suspect detained while city police investigated. According to a report, officers reviewed security footage which showed the man had nothing to do with the crime, so he was released. Police cited the woman and banned her from the store.
