GOING DARK

Neighborhood cafe Little Line Kitchen and Provisions has closed almost five years into service. Known for its all day brunch, sandwiches and well-curated retail wine offerings, Little Line was a local downtown favorite on the West Side.

WHAT’S NEW

Chef Kevin Mitchell, a faculty member at Trident Technical College, and food historian Dr. David Shields, are co-hosting a new PBS-distributed series, The Savers of Flavor. In each episode, the duo works to rediscover rare and endangered crops — ingredients that have long defined the region’s flavor, history and culture but are now at risk of disappearing. The show premiered with a local broadcast debut at 8 p.m. May 7 on SCETV. The series will also be available for streaming on PBS and SCETV digital platforms.
