Six graduate students from Syracuse University’s prestigious Newhouse journalism program are flooding downtown with Spoleto Festival USA and Piccolo Spoleto coverage as well as some news articles. Here’s a little bit about them.
Jordyn Britton graduated in 2025 from Howard University where she received her bachelor of arts in journalism with a minor in photography. Originally from Boston, she loves to spend time with family and friends.
Jai’La Du Rousseau is a Los Angeles native and University of California-Irvine graduate. She is committed to telling the stories of minority communities and aspires to become a longform narrative reporter.
Cristina Reid is a journalist from Ellicott City, Md., who says she hopes to pursue a career in music and culture journalism. She has an undergraduate degree in English with a minor in writing.
Madelyn Taylor is a Massena, N.Y., native with undergraduate degrees in creative writing and professional writing/literature. She will begin her role as a digital editor for Adirondack Explorer magazine in June.
Remi Turner is a Syracuse, N.Y., native with a passion for cultural reporting. She plans to put her two degrees to work in New York City with a career in magazine journalism and a creative writing side hustle.
Wesley J. Pérez Vidal is a bilingual reporter from Puerto Rico who covers culture, immigration and local news. He has traveled to seven countries following these beats, and his work has been published in nearly 20 news platforms across the nation.
