Hungry, hungry turtles
Head to Edisto Beach State Park’s Environmental Learning Center for a doubled-up day of turtle love. Discover the incredible world of South Carolina’s native turtles, land and sea with the weekly Turtle Talk. Then, join staff for a behind-the-scenes feeding of the center’s resident turtles and learn more about the diet of native species. Pre-registration is required for both events. The weekly Turtle Talk is free with admission.

Nerdfest 2026
Calling all nerds! This year’s Nerdfest at Frothy Beard Brewing in West Ashley is the place to be for tabletop gaming, cosplay, arcade gaming, nerd trivia and more. This totally packed, one-night festival will host Dungeon Lord Jay, Reforged Gaming Lounge, the Grimoire and other local and nationally recognized faces in the nerdy space. Don your best cosplay to enter the contest hosted by local cosplay creator Vera Cherry.

Doughnut expansion: Britt’s, a favorite North Carolina doughnut shop, is opening a Charleston location this fall. To be located at 32 N. Market St., the former Charleston’s Candy Kitchen space, the original Wilmington, N.C. spot opened in 1939 and is known for its glazed donuts. More: Instagram
New negronis: Charleston-based Bittermilk Bottling Co. has introduced a Negroni mixer. Made with gentian root, rhubarb, citrus and warm spices, home bartenders just need to add
gin to make a complete cocktail. Buttermilk is known for its mixes that just require the addition of a spirit.

Tiny burgers: Smalls Sliders has opened a North Charleston location at 2280 Ashley Phosphate Road. Started in Louisiana, the chain specializes in fresh, cooked-to-order cheeseburger sliders. The menu also features fries, shakes, queso and a signature Smauce.
