Politics heats up in U.S. Senate runoff race
MORNING HEADLINES | President Donald Trump will be in Myrtle Beach on Friday to rally voters for U.S. Sen. Darline Graham, who is in a tight runoff battle with U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman for the Republican spot on the November ballot for a six-year seat in the U.S. Senate.
No details on the rally have been released as of this morning. But the state GOP announced it’s postponing a Stump Stop event in Anderson due to Trump’s visit.
Early voting for the special Republican primary runoff for the Senate seat is open during business hours at early voting locations from Wednesday to Friday. Regular voting across the state is Aug. 25. All registered voters, other than anyone who cast a ballot in the June Democratic primary, are eligible to participate.
Meanwhile, Graham and Norman will debate tonight at the Newberry Opera House ahead of the runoff. The debate, hosted by the S.C. Republican Party and Newsmax, will be broadcast on SCETV statewide and C-SPAN.
