Latin American Festival

Charleston County Parks on Sunday will host its annual Latin American Festival at Wannamaker County Park. This weekend event celebrates Charleston’s vibrant Latin cultures with non-stop merengue, bachata and salsa music as well as folkloric art and crafts, dance performances and authentic food. Several vendors and performers will participate. No outside food or alcohol or pets are allowed.

Forge your own for America’s 250th

Celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary by stepping back in time and experiencing the craftsmanship that helped build the nation. The Forge at Charleston Adventure Forest is inviting guests to work with fire and steel to forge a tomahawk and steel candle holder to take home as a one-of-a-kind keepsakes. No experience necessary. Hatch Chile Roast

Head to Rancho Lewis on King Street for this year’s Hatch Chile Roast, featuring live music from Taylor Corum and Solid Country Gold and drinks from Cathead Vodka, Edmund’s Oast Brewing, Poggio Costa and more. Sign up for the hatch chile eating contest online. Benefits from this year’s event go toward The Green Heart Project, which uses school gardens and urban farms to educate students about agriculture.

St. Michael’s Church 275th anniversary

St. Michael’s Church is celebrating its 275th anniversary, honoring the church’s place in Charleston and American history while looking forward to the future. Founded 25 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, St. Michael’s is the oldest church on the peninsula and one of its most recognizable historic landmarks. Join local leaders for speeches about the church’s history and what’s ahead.

Riverfront Revival 

The annual Riverfront Revival is back for its fifth installment. Curated by three-time Grammy Award-winner and Charleston native Darius Rucker, this two-day music festival will feature 17 musical performances across two different stages, culminating with a live show from Rucker himself Saturday night. This year’s festival also features more than a dozen food and craft vendors. Get your tickets online.

Ticket launch

Charleston Wine + Food tickets go on sale 11 a.m. Oct. 8. The festival returns March 3 through March 7 next year with 90+ events. Early highlights include a Gullah Geechee Sunday Supper from chefs B.J. West Ashley Italian

Bad Bambino is set to open on Oct. 2 at 1301 Ashley River Rd. The restaurant comes from the same team as West Ashley’s Cafe Roca and the Corner Shop, and will be in the former Taco Bartina spot next to Cafe Roca. Bad Bambino will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is walk-in only. More: Instagram

On Oct. 3, Famulari’s Pizzeria in Hanahan will host its second annual Oktoberfest Finale Party from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Charleston Polka Kings will play from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and there will be live polka, costumes, competition and Oktoberfest games like an alpine hat toss, musical chairs, Bavarian dress and dash, beer puppet and a stein hoist. Two-ton party

Lewis Barbecue and Rancho Lewis will host their annual Hatch Chile Roast from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 at Rancho Lewis at Pacific Box and Crate courtyard, 1503 King St. In celebration of the annual chile harvest in Hatch Valley, New Mexico, the afternoon will be filled with on-site chile roasting, a tasting for attendees to enjoy dishes from 30+ local chefs using the chiles, live music, a chile eating contest and a kiddie corral. The Lewis team will bring in 4,000 pounds of fresh Hatch chiles for the event. Admission is free and open to the public with a suggested $10 donation to support the Green Heart Project.
