MORNING HEADLINES  |  New and familiar nationally known acts pack the lineup for next year’s High Water Festival at Riverfront Park in North Charleston.

For the 2027 edition of the festival, which runs from April 17 to April 18, the headliners will be root rockers Mt. Joy and the king of laid-back acoustic folk-pop, Jack Johnson.

But the lineup goes much deeper and is surprisingly diverse, including performances by Death Cab for Cutie, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, the Revivalists, the Head and the Heart and more. All totaled, there are more than 20 acts on the two-day schedule.

Presale tickets are available this Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Options include  one- or two-day general admission tickets, as well as VIP and platinum tickets.  All go on sale at the same time. If tickets remain after the presale, a public sale will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday.

The High Water Festival was launched in 2017 by Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst of the popular Charleston duo Shovels and Rope. It’s become an area  signature independent music festival, created to celebrate the region’s musical heritage while bringing nationally recognized artists and emerging acts to the Lowcountry.

High Water developed a reputation for its carefully curated lineup spanning Americana, indie rock, folk, soul and alternative music, along with its emphasis on local food, regional culture and an intimate, community-oriented atmosphere.

Typically, around 30,000 people attend the High Water Festival over two days. A 2023 economic study estimated that the event added about $45 million to Charleston’s economy in that year alone.
