Reports taken from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2
Haunted house prep?
Mount Pleasant police are looking for a man who was recorded stealing more than $700 worth of “various saw blades” Oct. 1 from a U.S. Highway 17 home goods store by hiding them in his pants. According to a police report, the man has previously been convicted of shoplifting twice. We know Halloween is coming up, but this seems excessive.
Not my fault!
A North Charleston woman on Oct. 1 called city police after she hit a curb with her car near a dumpster on Wetland Crossing Road. The woman told officers that she wanted the property owner to pay for the damage since “they put the curb in a bad place,” but she didn’t want to give police her information for a report. So, umm, good luck with that.
All right, fine
Charleston police on Sept. 28 stopped to talk to a man sitting by a water fountain at Marion Square. A paper bag containing a (still cold) can of beer was close by. The man denied that it belonged to him, began swearing at the officers and told them to “focus on real crime.” Well, apparently, the police took his advice, and they threw the beer away and left with no citation issued.
Some good advice
North Charleston police on Oct. 2 talked with a kid about decision-making and making good friendship choices after he admitted to breaking a window at an Ingleside Boulevard apartment complex. The boy told officers he is often blamed for other activities that other kids in the area are a part of — though this time it really was his bad.
That doesn’t work
A Mount Pleasant woman on Oct. 2 called town police to report her neighbor frequently yelled and swore at her and her dog and kicked her backyard gate. The neighbor told officers he was tired of the woman’s dog barking all the time, so he started yelling back and kicking the gate in retaliation. Yeah, if we know one thing about barking dogs, it’s that barking back is really, really effective. (Not.)
