Reports taken from Nov. 28 to Dec. 8
Time for plan B
A North Charleston man on Nov. 30 reportedly tried to pay for food from a local food truck near Rivers Avenue with a fake $100 bill. When the truck owner called him out for the scam, the man quickly grabbed $40 from the tip jar on the counter and ran. Police later caught the suspect and arrested him for the theft.
Two-for-one deal
A Charleston man on Nov. 28 reported his white Bildabike bicycle stolen to city police. The bike was reportedly secured with a chain and combination lock — which were also stolen. According to reports, the bike was last seen a week ago, which coincidentally is also the last time temperatures were reasonable for bike-riding.
Wrong machine
A North Charleston man on Dec. 8 reportedly stole an ATV from a shipping container at a worksite on Woodlawn Avenue. The owner told police that somebody tried to sell the stolen ATV back to his uncle, and there are likely security cameras that captured the incident. With the way the weather is going this year, though, maybe the thief should have nabbed a snowmobile.
Nope, just that bad
Mount Pleasant police on Dec. 8 pulled over a man for being unable to keep his car in a single lane on Interstate 526. Officers determined he did not have a valid driver’s license. They conducted a field sobriety test, which the driver passed, meaning he wasn’t drunk — he was just really that bad behind the wheel. The car was towed. The driver was picked up by a friend and not charged.
Just go to Goodwill, man
A Mount Pleasant man apparently stole an outdoor table and two chairs from a Venning Road gas station on Dec. 9, according to a police report. Security footage shows a red pickup truck backing up to the store, and one person quickly tossing the furniture into the bed and driving off. Look, we could use some new patio furniture, too, but a gas station? Can’t you do better?
