North Charleston will be cracking down kids skipping the first day of school.

Once school begins in Charleston on Aug. 19, North Charleston police will assign 12 officers to area schools. Those officers will go knocking on doors to find students who are missing school.

Anybody who thinks this isn’t a good use of taxpayer dollars hasn’t seen the school’s 35 percent graduation rate. And, if they’re not in school, they’re likely causing trouble.
