The adventurous brewers at the Magic Hat Brewing Co. (based in South Burlington, Vt.) boast some of the most mysterious ales out of the crowded Northeast scene. The company calls its deep orange-hued No. 9 Pale Ale “an ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers.” Its mystical freak-show label is psychedelic, man. Its malty flavor and clean finish scores big with the hippies and beer enthusiasts, too.
