Lowcountry Local First kicks off its big 10 percent shift campaign with a party this Friday night at Noisette Navy Yard from 7-10 p.m. Admission is only 10 cents, but you have to take the 10% Shift pledge, which means agreeing to shift 10 percent of your expenditures from national companies to locally-owned companies.

Local businesses are encouraging you to do just that by accepting the 10% Shift coupon. What you get by presenting the coupon is up to the individual businesses, but the following restaurants are participating: Seel’s Fish Camp, Old Firehouse Restaurant, Wholly Cow and Island Coffee, The Glass Onion, Square Onion, Yo Burrito, Crushed Wine, Ted’s Butcherblock, The Barbecue Joint, Stono Market, Sermet’s Corner, Southend Brewery, Caviar and Bananas, and Legare Farms.

So next time you’re looking for a place to eat, get out there and buy local. For a complete list of participating retailers and businesses, visit the 10% Shift site.
