Some girls never stop playing dress-up. Polish-born, Charleston-based, Maria Dobrzanska Reeves spent her childhood staging fashion shows with her cousins and dancing at a professional ballet boarding school. Years later she’s made a career out of her love for fashion, and in March she was crowned Best Emerging Designer: Southeast at Charleston Fashion Week. Designing mainly swimwear and resort-wear for her line Marysia, her pieces range from elegantly modern to 1960s beach glamour (think Marylyn Monroe in Santa Monica). Reeves recently made her debut at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, and her signature frilly bikini was chosen as one of the “Viewer’s Choice: Top Looks.” Kudos, Marysia!
