The Civil War ended slavery in the South, but what if the War Between the States never happened? That’s the topic of discussion on the third installment of the ETV series Take on the South, which examines the history of the Southern states. Walter Edgar, host of ETV Radio’s Walter Edgar’s Journal, moderates the hour-long debate. The panel discusses how the United States differed from almost every other country in the way it handled slavery, Lincoln’s attempts to prevent the expansion of slavery to new states, and how northern banks were complicit in perpetuating the slave trade. The episode debuts on ETV on Wed. Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. with an encore broadcast on Nov. 27 at 10 p.m.
