Keeping the Author’s Luncheon Series ball rolling, Blue Bicycle Books introduces two Lowcountry authors, Nicole Seitz and Batt Humphreys. They will be speaking about their respective books on Sat., March 13, from 12-2 p.m. at Pane e Vino. After the talk and luncheon, guests are invited back to Blue Bicycle Books for a book signing with the authors.
Mt. Pleasant’s own Nicole Seitz has authored The Spirit of Sweetgrass, Trouble the Water, and A Hundred Years of Happiness. Her latest novel, Saving Cicadas, is about a single mother, Priscilla Lynn Macy, and her two daughters Rainey Dae and Janie Doe. Priscilla finds out that she’s pregnant, so she quits her job and takes her family to Forest Pines, S.C.
Dead Weight is Batt Humphreys’ first novel. Based on a true story, the book is set in 1910 Charleston. A Jewish merchant is killed, and a black man is wrongly accused of the murder. Humphreys began his career in television news and eventually rode up the ladder to senior producer for CBS News in New York where he managed coverage of the first hours of 9/11, several wars, elections, hurricanes, executions, and murders.
