After three years in residency at A Dough Re Mi in Mt. Pleasant, the Lowcountry Blues Club — a group of like-minded players and blues cats who met every Tuesday evening for jam sessions — is ready to kick off a new weekly live music series in a new spot. On Wed. May 5, the club will congregate at the West Ashley Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ at 7 p.m. for an official kick-off gig with a wide variety of local and visiting musicians on hand.

The Lowcountry Blues Club is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation. Funding for the LCBC comes from membership dues, private donations, corporate sponsorships, grants, and merchandise and event ticket sales.

Blues Club president Tim Shaw — a veteran, semi-professional blues-rock guitarist himself —says they’ll have many of usual players on stage this week — from the high school aged up-and-comers to the seasoned veterans.

“We stepped it up a notch last year when we became a member of the Blues Foundation,” says Shaw. We’re really pluggin’ this with as many players as we can get.”
