Local promotion company Brightsound Entertainment (the folks who booked Steel Pulse this summer) announced a big benefit show this week. Big Boi — of hip-hop/soul act OutKast — will headline the Yorktown Throwdown at the U.S.S. Yorktown lot at Patriots Point on Thurs. Oct. 28 with support from Toronto’s MSTRKRFT and local multimedia troupe Space Invaders. The concert will take place in the yard directly in front of the aircraft carrier from 7-11 p.m.

Big Boi (a.k.a. Antwan Patton) has worked as André 3000’s partner in the Georgia-based OutKast for years. He’s one of the central members of the Dungeon Family as well. Big Boi’s latest solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, was released this year by Def Jam.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of America (bgca.org). Tickets go on sale this week for $37.50 via brightsoundlive.com. Admission is $40 on the day of show.
