The Sullivan’s Island location of Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ (2209 Middle St.) will host three open mic events this fall. Billed as the Down Home Blues Open Mic and Guitar Clinic, the gigs will be hosted by Oregon-based bluesman, author, and teacher Steve Cheseborough, a musician who specializes in vintage Delta blues styles.
“Cheseborough plays the 1920s and ’30s-style acoustic blues, sounding eerily like an old 78 record, but without the scratches,” says a press release from the venue.
On Tues. Nov. 23, Tues. Nov 30, and Tues. Dec. 7, Cheseborough will welcome musicians at 6 p.m. with a greeting and lesson. At 7 p.m., the open mic sessions begin. Cheseborough will close things with a solo set of his own at 9 p.m.
