It’s time for you to start gearing up for Spoleto. There are two events over the next few days that will help you prep for the madness.
Spoleto Saturday is set for May 7 at the Gaillard. The locals-only event offers discounts on hot shows like The Magic Flute, The Red Shoes, and the Wells Fargo Jazz Series. Show up early to see the unveiling of the official 2011 festival poster outside of the auditorium on the Calhoun Street side. And, for the first time in festival history, the entire Bank of American Chamber Music program will be shared in its entirety — usually people have to wait until the day of. Stop by between 10 a.m.-6 p.m. to claim your perks.
Two days later on Mon. May 9, the College of Charleston Friends of the Library and Friends of the School of the Arts host a sneak preview lecture focused on Spoleto USA and Piccolo Spoleto. Presented by professors Edward Hart, Robert Taylor, Todd McNerney, and Mark Sloan, the event will highlight this year’s must-see events as well as give a brief history of the festivals. Stop by the Recital Hall at the Simons Center for the Arts at 6 p.m. to be in the know.
