It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since Mellow Mushroom Avondale opened its doors. Charleston’s most “theatrical” restaurant will be center stage starting Saturday, March 24th by hosting a 1974 disco throwback brunch with rollback pricing to commemorate their one-year anniversary.

The brunch is inspired by the pricing of the original 1974 Mellow Mushroom menu — the year the first Mellow Mushroom opened. Rollback pricing will go from 10 AM to 12 PM, which includes specials such as .60¢ Budweiser and $3.50 large pizzas.

As if that wasn’t groovy enough, the first 100 people in the door will receive a mystery voucher for various prizes, the most extravagant being free pizza for one year for a lucky guest.

On Wednesday, March 28h Mellow continues the celebration by giving guests a chance to win free pizza for one year in the inaugural pizza plunge.

When the clock strikes 6pm, 80 lucky participants will get the opportunity to dress up in goggles, aprons, gloves, and more, in order to tear through more than 100 feet of pizza for three minutes collecting random tokens that will be baked throughout the thick doughy pizza. Once the marinara stops flying, the value of all the tokens will be revealed, and two lucky guests will win free pizza for one year. There will also be prizes for best-dressed contestant. It’s a sight you won’t want to miss.

After the pizza plunge, the party will continue with a DJ Natty Heavy spinning late night. Drink and food specials will be offered throughout the evening.
