The Charleston Area Beekeepers Association will host its first-ever Honey and Bee Expo on Sunday at the Cinebarre movie theater in Mt. Pleasant.

Local honey will be available for sale and for sampling, and local beekeepers will be on hand to explain the basics of the trade, from hive box construction to honey harvesting. There will also be educational demonstrations and an observation hive with live bees.

The expo will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. At 1:30, there will be a screening of the documentary film Queen of the Sun, which is about the mysterious ailment known as colony collapse disorder. A $5 cash donation will be collected for the screening. To find out more, visit the CABA website.
