Vaughn Daniel is opening a new hotdog joint, Seppy’s Hotdogs, in Mt. Pleasant on April 13. “We’re keeping it simple,” he says. The menu features 16 hotdogs including the Carolina with mustard, chili, and slaw; the Sullivans with mustard, secret sauce, onions, and diced tomatoes; and the Lowcountry with chili and pimento cheese ($3.49-$3.99). Guests get to choose from all beef, Carolina smoked sausage, turkey, and vegetarian dogs. When it comes to the sides and drinks, you can choose from chips, pickles, or applesauce and lemonade, water, soda, or tea. And Daniel didn’t forget dessert — their specialty is the Dirty Pie on a Stick, which is Key lime pie covered in graham cracker crumbles and dipped in Ghirardelli chocolate ($5).
Seppy’s grand opening celebration happens Sat. April 13 from 12-3 p.m., with a rain date scheduled for that Sunday. The Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Billy Swails will be in attendance for the ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. There will also be activities for families, including face painting, a big slide, and balloon animals. As for the food, when you purchase a hotdog you’ll get to sample the Dirty Pie on a Stick. “We have found our niche,” says Daniel. “We plan to be Mt. Pleasant’s premier hotdog business.”
