The last time Greg Tavares, Timmy Finch, and Steven Shields performed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), it was 2003, and the trio has been talking about remounting it ever since. The scripted play takes on every single Shakespearean play and sonnet but comes off as an improvisational romp. “It’s supposed to feel like you’re making this stuff up,” says Tavares. “It breaks a lot of rules, and that’s kind of fun to do a show that falls apart in front of the audience.” For Tavares, this play has long been a favorite and even inspired him to pen his own perennial play The Complete History of Charleston for Morons. And one thing he’s really looking forward to is seeing Timmy Finch in a dress again.
