Local playwrights Thomas and Judy Heath are celebrating some exciting news — their comedic play Perfectly Normel People, which debuted at the 2012 Piccolo Spoleto festival, is headed to NYC in August to perform at the New York International Fringe Festival. A fish-out-of-water memory play, Perfectly Normel People follows Hadley, a college freshman newly arrived in the Big Apple who spends a year living with the Italian Normellino family from Queens. The performances will be at the historic Players Theater in Greenwich Village.

It’s a dream come true for the playwrights, who told the City Paper last year that their goal was to bring the production to off-Broadway.

The Heaths are schlepping the entire production, from cast and crew to sets and props, up North, so they’ve started a Kickstarter to help raise the funds for the trip. The funding period ends Aug. 9.
