Marian McPartland, that NPR grand dame with the gravelly voice and inimitable interview style, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 95, NPR reports.

The jazz pianist was most well-known as the host of Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz, which was produced by SCETV, aired for more than 40 years on public radio and featured interviews with the world’s best-known jazz pianists and duet performances.

The radio waves will miss her.
