With a nod to new school barbeque, Georgia’s Southern Soul Barbeque will be joining forces with local favorite, Home Team BBQ, to host a Backyard BBQ that’s sure to be a spectacle of smoked meats and good eats.
The Pitmaster Backyard BBQ takes place at Home Team BBQ West Ashley this Friday from 7:00-9:00 PM and will benefit Grow Food Carolina. Tickets are 30 bucks but will include an absurd amount of food and entertainment.
Both Southern Soul and Home Team are known for their young pitmasters and fresh approach and it will be no different on Friday. For starters, they’ll be serving dishes like steamed May river oysters with Fairlawn Farms tomatillo cocktail sauce and drawn Sriracha butter and BBQ rubbed pork skins, smoked gouda, and jalapeno pimento cheese with hot sauce and lime.
The main event will feature items like beef barbacoa, oak smoked cabrito (goat), and goat sausage espelette. Smoked goat? Yes, please.
We talked to Aaron Siegel, who’s been posting pictures of his dry runs smoking goat, and he’s pleased with how well it’s turned out. He’s particularly excited that he’ll be serving goat at this event – we are too.
Among the many starters and entrees, there will be an assortment of side dishes – hatch chili cornbread, roasted Brussels sprouts with smoked pork belly and caramelized onion, and mashed Gruber Family Farms crowder peas, to name a few.
Also for sale will be cocktails by High Wire Distilling Company two brews – Slanted Porch Pale Ale and a special Smoked Jalapeno Porter – by Holy City Brewing Company.
And is if that weren’t enough, Shrimp City Slim will mellow the crowd with some Lowcountry Blues.
