It’s the most wonderful time of the year: college football season. You can almost smell the hot wings wafting out of bars and restaurants around town. Charlestonians love a good happy hour special, and this fall they are offered in abundance. Some restaurants even offer special food or drink menus during certain games — just make sure you don’t walk through the wrong doors wearing the wrong colors.
In honor of the new season, Boone’s Bar will offer $4 pints of Palmetto Pale Ale and $15 buckets of Bud and Bud Light.
Because of their proximity to the Citadel, Moe’s Crosstown Tavern is a gathering place for Bulldogs, as well as Penn State or N.C. State fans. They will have $15 buckets of Miller Lite and Coors Light on Saturdays for college football enthusiasts, and $2 Miller High Life and $3 bourbon all the time for those who aren’t in it for the football.
In addition to their numerous flat screen TVs and arcade games, Charleston Beer Works will be offering $10 pitchers of Bud and Bud Light, $12 pitchers of Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams, and 25 percent off wings.
South Carolina fans can find their fellow Gamecocks flocking to the Mt. Pleasant King Street Grille. Both the Mt. Pleasant and downtown locations of King Street Grille will have $2.75 Bud Light and Shock Top all day during football season.
Home Team BBQ in West Ashley is the place to be for South Carolina and Georgia games, with $1 off all drafts, domestics, wine, and house liquors during happy hour.
Mellow Mushroom in Avondale will be offering $12 domestic buckets and 50 cent wings. Virginia Tech fans should head to the King Street for $2 PBRs, $3 beer of month, house liquor, and fireball shots, $4 draft beers of the bartender’s choosing as well as $4 drafts (one bartenders choice instead of all drafts)shots of rumple, jäger, and grand ma, and $10 domestic buckets.
Mad River Bar & Grill on Market Street will be offering a special West Virginia Mountaineers themed menu this Saturday in hopes of a victory over the Crimson Tide. They will also have $3 Budweisers, $2 Bud Light pints, and $15 Budweiser towers.
Kentucky Wildcats and Clemson Tigers should prowl down to Kickin’ Chicken‘s Mt. Pleasant location. They will have $12 Bud, Bud Light, and Michelob Ultra buckets, and they will be offering $4 pints of Goose Island 312 IPA.
SEC fans in Mt. Pleasant will be pleased to know that all season, The Shelter Kitchen & Bar will be offering their house smoked chicken nachos for $10 and 5 for $3 jumbo buffalo wings. Plus, you can sip $2.50 Bud Light on draft and $1.50 Mystery Beers.
Clemson and USC fans alike can find refuge at The Recovery Room, with happy hour specials including $1 off all beers, $2.75 well liquor, and 50 cent wings.
For those who want to watch their favorite team in a more relaxed setting, The Royal American has an all-day special of $3 homemade cinnamon whiskey shots, and $8 cups of their infamous punch. They also have a shot and beer special for $4.
A newer addition to the bar scene downtown, the King Street Public House will have the Goose Island 312 IPA on draft for $4, as well as $12 domestic buckets and $2 Bud Lights on draft.
South Carolinians can watch any of their favorite teams at Wild Wing Cafe downtown. On Thursdays and Saturdays, they will have $2.75 Miller Lite bottles, $3 Miller Lite pints, and $3.75 Blue Moon pints.
Big Game Bar & Grill in Mt. Pleasant will be a special roost for Gamecocks, giving away free rally rags this Thursday that can be used as a coupon for $1 off Miller or Coors Light during future Carolina games. They will also be offering $12 domestic buckets, and $15 Miller and Coors Light tubes.
