It’s the most wonderful time of the year: college football season. You can almost smell the hot wings wafting out of bars and restaurants around town. Charlestonians love a good happy hour special, and this fall they are offered in abundance. Some restaurants even offer special food or drink menus during certain games — just make sure you don’t walk through the wrong doors wearing the wrong colors.

Because of their proximity to the Citadel, Moe’s Crosstown Tavern is a gathering place for Bulldogs, as well as Penn State or N.C. State fans. SEC fans in Mt. Pleasant will be pleased to know that all season, The Shelter Kitchen & Bar will be offering their house smoked chicken nachos for $10 and 5 for $3 jumbo buffalo wings. Plus, you can sip $2.50 Bud Light on draft and $1.50 Mystery Beers.
Clemson and USC fans alike can find refuge at The Recovery Room, with happy hour specials including $1 off all beers, $2.75 well liquor, and 50 cent wings.
For those who want to watch their favorite team in a more relaxed setting, The Royal American has an all-day special of $3 homemade cinnamon whiskey shots, and $8 cups of their infamous punch. They also have a shot and beer special for $4.
A newer addition to the bar scene downtown, the King Street Public House will have the Goose Island 312 IPA on draft for $4, as well as $12 domestic buckets and $2 Bud Lights on draft.
