A community prayer service will be held at noon Thursday at Morris Brown AME Church (13 Morris St.) in response to the Wednesday night mass shooting at Emanuel AME Church that left nine dead and at least one injured.
The Rev. Norvel Goff Sr., a presiding elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church’s 7th District, announced the prayer service at a late-night press conference following the shooting. Morris Brown AME also invited the public to the prayer service via its Facebook page, writing:
We extend an invitation to citizens of the Charleston community and members of the AME Church family as we pray for healing, understanding, and peace during a Community Prayer Service beginning at noon.
