After a 48 minute flight from Shelby, N.C. to Charleston, Dylann Storm Roof was booked into Charleston County’s Al Cannon Detention Center just after 7 p.m. this evening, where he will remain at the county jail pending a bond hearing.
According to Shelby media reports, Roof was reportedly taken into custody after a florist driving in nearby Kings Mountain saw a car and driver matching the description she’d seen on police advisories.
Roof reportedly waived his right to speak to an attorney and did not protest extradition back to South Carolina. After being loaded onto a state-owned twin-prop Beechcraft airplane, Roof took off from Cleveland-Shelby Municipal Airport at 6:23 p.m. for its 48 minute flight.
Until his 2 p.m. bond hearing on Friday, Roof will be held in isolation at the county jail, according to Live 5 News.
