When Jump Little Children recently announced INDIANOLA would be joining the band for their Southeast tour/reunion next month, we did a double take. Seems that former Charlestonian and French Camp-er Owen Beverly has not only been busy recording an Inlaws record with Joel T. Hamilton, but he’s also taken up a new moniker.
“I’ve had side projects and solo records motivated by very different aesthetics, but I feel like INDIANOLA has a sound that houses all those influences under one roof,” says Beverly, who’s been busy touring Europe with Danish band Oh Land. “INDIANOLA is going to take over as my main focus going forward, so I can’t wait to debut the material. We’ll have a single out by the Jump dates so people will have something to listen to before the record is released later in 2016.”
Ramshackle Studio’s Andy Dixon is the album engineer/mixer, while Shovels & Rope’s Michael Trent is producing the record. “It has a really gritty old-school rock ‘n’ roll vibe but feels current as well,” Beverly says.
Both Dixon and Trent as well as Jack Burg will join INDIANOLA for December’s Jump shows.
